BILLINGS, Mont. – Competing in the second race of the fall schedule, the Montana State University Billings men's and women's cross country teams posted mixed results at Amend Park in the Frontier Preview Open Friday afternoon in warm, breezy conditions. The men's team placed sixth among eight teams including Lewis-Clark State, Black Hills State, Rocky Mountain, Montana State Northern, Carroll College, Dickinson State, and Dawson Community College. The MSUB women took eight of eight teams. Lewis-Clark State combined for 27 total points to win the men's event and Black Hills State won the women's race with 49 total points.
Nikki Aiken followed her win last weekend in the Hardrocker Classic with a 13
th place time of 20:30.90 for 3.1 miles of distance, 55 seconds faster than her previous 5K.
Kailee Stoppel followed with a 45
th place time equaling 22:34.00. Stoppel. Her career best times in the 3.1 mile and 5K have come in each the last two events. Others in the MSUB women's field included
Sierra Durbin (45
th, 23:36.00),
Miranda Livingston (58
th, 24:38.50), and
Rachel Hiner (63
rd, 27:36.30).
Logan Straus led the men's field with a 26
th place time of 29:00.30, followed by
Bryant Edgerton (30
th, 29:18.60). The 'Jackets also placed
Ase Ackerman (42
nd, 30:31.20), and
Nick Redgrave (63
rd, 34:04.30).
Lewis Clark and Black Hills State each had three of the top six finishers in the men's field with Chase Barrow (Lewis-Clark State) the race winner in 26:45.20 (5.25/mile).
Reghan Worley (Carroll) took home first place with a time of 19:16.70 in the womens race ahead of
Ruth Chepsat (Rocky Mountain), Eireann O'Connor (Montana Western) and Nicole Allerdings (Black Hills State).
UP NEXT: The Yellowjackets will compete next in the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday, September 28 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at Les Bolstad Golf Course.
