MONMOUTH, Ore. Wrapping up their seasons with the team's final postseason races, the MSUB men's and women's cross country teams both saw successes at the NCAA DII West Regional Championships, hosted at the Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, OR on Saturday.
With the women's team running a 6k, and the men's team running a 10k, both Yellowjacket squads would total big PRs int the race. Each of MSUB's top five finishers on the women's side would earn PRs, along with the men's team picking up multiple PRs as well. For the team finishes, MSUB's women would finish with a team score of 701, ranking 25
th at the meet. MSUB's men would not account for a team score.
MSUB's top finisher on the women's team would be
Cecily Eagleton, who would place 102
nd with a time of 22:30.47. Eagleton, who had already bested her PR time most recently at the GNAC Championships two weeks ago, improved upon that time by over six seconds. Behind her would finish a pair of freshmen in
Micah Strong, who placed 130
th with a time of 23:00.74, and
Ally Coey, who would finish her race in 145
th with a time of 23:14.89. Strong would best ger previous PR by nearly a full minute, while Coey would improve by 26 seconds. Rounding out MSUB's point earners would be
Toree Manning, whose time of 23:57.85 would place 164
th, and
Chloe Shennum, who took 165
th with a time of 24:06.62. Mannin would smash her PR time from the GNAC Championships by over 40 seconds, and Shennum would best her career PR mark by 47 seconds. Rounding out the Yellowjackets finishers for the women would be another freshman in
Gracyn Rock, who finished 176
th with a time of 24:43.29 in her first ever regional meet.
The Yellowjacket men would be paced by
Will Hyatt, who finished 143
rd with a time of 33:57.22, besting his previous 10k best set at the 2023 West Regional by over two minutes. Meanwhile, each of MSUB's next three finishers would all complete the first 10k's of their collegiate careers, finishing in close proximity to each other in placement.
Lennon Davis would lead the group with a time of 35:04.71, finishing in 154
th, while
Bruce Reed would take 157
th with a time of 35:31.01, and
Hunter Bailey would take 158
th place with a time of 35:40.75.
