Yellowjacket Volleyball Entertains Simon Fraser and Western Washington

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State volleyball team returns home for three of its final four games in Alterowitz Gymnasium to conclude the regular season.  The Yellowjackets host Simon Fraser Thursday at 7 p.m., and No. 15 Western Washington Saturday at 7 p.m.

MSUB enters the week with a 4-20 record overall and 4-11 mark in the GNAC.  Leading the way for the Jackets this season is senior Jennifer Boe who leads the team with 259 kills on the year.  Junior Melissa Porter is second on the team in kills with 153, while sophomore Hannah Johnson is third with 152.  Junior Brooke Tolman leads the team with 672 assists on the year, while Boe also leads with 26 service aces. 

Defensively, the Jackets are led by Boe who has a team-high 281 digs.  Freshman Adrienne Kelso is second in digs with 220 and Tolman is third with 171.  Porter leads the team with 23 solo blocks on the season and 77 total blocks. 

As a team, the Yellowjackets are hitting .104 on the year with 829 kills, 532 errors and 763 assists. 

Simon Fraser enters the week with a 4-15 record overall and a 4-11 record in conference play.  The Clan is led by Marina Liarsky who leads the team with 171 kills.  The Clan has five players with over 100 kills on the year.  Jennifer Nelson leads the team with a .207 average, while Jordan Drezet leads with 653 assists.  Drezet also has a team-high 32 service aces.

Defensively, SFU is led by Brianna Kellough who leads the team with 239 digs.  Cheryl Windhorst leads the team with 56 total blocks.

As a team, SFU is hitting .156 on the year with 770 kills, 426 errors and 724 assists. 

Simon Fraser leads the all-time series 3-0.  The Clan won a 3-1 decision in Burnaby, B.C., Oct. 9.  This will be the first time SFU has visited Billings in volleyball.

15th-ranked Western Washington enters the week with a 16-2 record overall and a 13-1 mark in the GNAC.  The Vikings are led by Emily Jepsen who leads the team with 198 kills as they have four players with 100 or more kills.  Jepsen also leads the team with a .315 attack percentage.  Setter, Kari Rice, has 648 assists on the year and a .473 average. 

As a team, the Vikings have 832 kills on the year with 274 errors and 781 assists.  Defensively, they have 1000 digs and Allison Gotz leads the way with 337.  Jepsen also leads the team with 17 solo blocks and 69 total blocks.
