Yellowjackets Fall to Saints on Senior Night

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Montana State University Billings volleyball team (2–20, 0–16 GNAC) came up short against the Saint Martin's Saints (13–12, 6–11 GNAC) on Saturday afternoon at Alterowitz Gym. The contest marked MSUB's final home match of the season, during which the Yellowjackets honored seniors Reese Sherwood and Stella Scott in a pregame ceremony.

Saint Martin's set the tone early in the opening frame, jumping out to a 7–3 lead. MSUB responded with kills from Marissa Allen, Allie Dorman, and Tehani Moniz to stay within reach, but the Saints countered with a 4–0 run. Kenzie Allen and Addison Holcomb briefly halted the momentum with consecutive kills, yet SMU regained control and closed the set on a dominant 12–0 surge to secure a 25–7 win.

The second set followed a similar script, with the Saints grabbing an early 3–1 edge before MSUB evened the score. Saint Martin's then ignited a 7–1 run until Dorman stopped the push with a kill to make it 10–5. After a brief exchange of points, the Yellowjackets found a spark, rattling off three straight to cut the deficit. Holcomb chipped in two more kills, but a powerful 11–2 closing run by SMU lifted the Saints to a 25–10 victory in the second frame.

Momentum stayed firmly with Saint Martin's in the third set as they built a 7–2 lead. Back-to-back kills from Marissa Allen slowed the Saints briefly, but SMU continued to widen the gap, pushing ahead 12–4. The Yellowjackets fought back by capitalizing on several SMU errors and a Moniz block to trim the deficit to six. However, another 5–1 run from the Saints put the set out of reach. Despite MSUB adding a few late points, SMU sealed the match with a 25–13 win in the third.
