ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Montana State University Billings volleyball team (2–21, 0–17 GNAC) fell in straight sets to the University of Alaska Anchorage (22–5, 13–4 GNAC) on Thursday evening at the Alaska Airlines Center. Receiving votes in the latest DII Coaches Poll, the Seawolves proved their national pedigree with a decisive sweep.
UAA opened the first set with a quick 5–2 lead, but back-to-back kills from
Allie Dorman pulled the Yellowjackets within one. The Seawolves answered with a 6–2 run to stretch the margin to 11–6, and despite kills from
Marissa Allen,
Addison Holcomb, and Dorman, MSUB couldn't slow Anchorage's momentum. Another surge pushed the deficit to double digits, and UAA claimed the opening frame 25–13.
Anchorage carried its rhythm into the second set, racing ahead 10–2. A Dorman kill and three Seawolf errors helped MSUB trim the gap to 11–6, and the teams traded points from there behind attacking contributions from
Tehani Moniz and Holcomb. Dorman notched her sixth kill late in the set, but UAA maintained control throughout and secured a 25–14 win.
The Seawolves continued their efficient hitting—finishing the night above .450—as they built another early lead at 11–2 in the third. MSUB responded with a strong 7–3 run fueled by kills from
Izzy Ping,
Kenzie Allen, and Holcomb, along with a Dorman ace and a
Marissa Allen block to make it 14–9. But Anchorage countered with an 11–4 push to close the match, taking the final set 25–13 and completing the sweep.
