BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings volleyball team closes out the 2010 regular season Saturday at 7 p.m., versus No. 14 Seattle Pacific for Senior Night. The Yellowjackets stand at 5-22 overall and 5-12 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. SPU enters with a 23-2 record overall and a 15-2 record in conference play.
Prior to the match, the Yellowjackets will honor their lone senior who has been a mainstay of the program for the last four years. Casper, Wyo., native, Jennifer Boe, became the fourth Yellowjacket to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs this season. She joins the elite list with Olivia Munro, Devon Crotteau and Brandee Sayles. Boe is fifth in both career kills (1168) and career digs (1164).
Boe also leads the team this season with 296 kills and 316 digs. She ranks seventh in the league in kills and ninth in digs. Junior setter, Brooke Tolman, leads the team with 764 assists. Tolman and Boe are two of three Yellowjackets to play and start all 27 matches. Sophomore Jody Lutz is the other. Lutz leads the team with a .169 attack percentage and has 106 kills on the year. Junior Melissa Porter is second on the team in kills with 173 and sophomore Hannah Johnson is third with 162.
Porter leads the team total blocks with 84, which is good for third in the league. She also leads the team and the conference in solo blocks with 26. Tolman's 764 assists is good for third in the league.
As a team, the Jackets are hitting .103 for the year with 931 kills and 861 assists. They have committed 602 errors. Defensively, they have 1302 digs and 184.5 total blocks with 60 solo blocks.
SPU enters the match in a tie for first in the league with Western Washington as each has one game to play. SPU is at MSUB, while WWU plays Northwest Nazarene.
The Falcons are led by Sarah Risser who leads the team with 320 kills and a .160 attack percentage. Lindsey Wodrich is second in kills with 262, while Nikki Lowell is third (233) and Paige Hoffman is fourth with 217. Shelby Swenson leads the team and the conference in assists with 953.
Defensively, SPU is led by Anna Herold who has a team-high 434 digs, which ranks her second in the conference. Lowell leads the team in blocks with 81 total, including 13 solo blocks.
As a team, the Falcons lead the conference in kills (1146), assists (1061) and are holding opponents to a league-low .120 attack percentage. The Falcons are second in the league in hitting percentage (.232) and digs with 1356.
