Colmenero's time of 33:51.01 was the best of his career, and slated him eighth in the GNAC with the conference meet three weeks away. Teammate
Jacob Marshall also had a PR in the 10k, cruising to a time of 35:16.11 which is good for 17th in the GNAC. "That was a really good race for Ivan to put him into the top-10 in the GNAC," said MSUB head coach
Dave Coppock. "He and Jacob ran well today, and now we have three guys in the top-20 in that event."
Continuing the distance success,
Garrett Love ran his best time of the year in the 5,000-meters, finishing in second place at 15:51.88. In the 1,500-meters,

In the discus,
Taylor Stringari took first place with a mark of 35.80 meters, and

MSUB featured a limited sprint squad Friday, but freshman

Johnson was also third in the 100-meters, with a time of 12.78 seconds, and
Brenna Beckett took second in the 200-meters at 27.35 seconds. "It was good to work on a few things in this meet, and the big one for us will be next week at Montana," said Coppock. "That will probably be our last chance to establish marks for the GNAC. We are looking forward to that opportunity, and to seeing if we can get a few more individuals qualified for the conference meet."
THE BUZZ: Colmenero and Steinbeisser were named the St. Vincent Healthcare Players of the Day for their standout performances.
AHEAD: The 'Jackets remain in Montana next week, with the University of Montana Open scheduled to run April 28-29 in Missoula. It is the first of two more meets that stand between MSUB and the 2017 GNAC Championships, hosted by Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore., May 12-13.
