PORTLAND, Ore. – The Montana State University Billings men's and women's track & field teams saw a total of 13 student-athletes from it's programs named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Teams presented by Barnes & Noble College.
The Yellowjackets 13 recipients totaled nine student-athletes from the men's team, and four student-athletes from the women's team.
The top GPA on the men's side would go to
Tyler Grenier, a sophomore from Livingston, MT who totaled a 3.96 GPA while majoring in Psychology, has set PR's in the 100m during this outdoor season, while setting multiple PRs in indoor season, and competed at his second GNAC Indoor Championships.
Following Grenier would be a pair of fellow sprinters in
JayCee Herbert, who earned a 3.88 GPA, and
Brock Grossman, who accumulated a 3.82 GPA. The duo both major in Health & Human Performance, with Herbert serving as one of MSUB's top sprinters in the 100m and 200m this season, along with being a member of both the 4x100m and 4x4000m relays this season. Grossman similarly runs for MSUB in the 4x400m relay, while setting PRs in the 400m multiple times during outdoor season, climbing to fifth all-time in the record books this outdoor season.
Payton Kokot and
Ryan Fenley would be the Yellowjacket men's two graduating seniors honored with Academic All-Conference honors, with Fenley competing in the heptathlon this past indoor season, and Kokot rounding into form in the jumps this outdoor season.
For MSUB's women, senior
Jaida Green would total the team's top GPA mark, with the Helena, MT native set to graduate with her degree in special education after totaling a 3.84 GPA. A three-time honoree, Green has been one of the standout throwers for the Yellowjackets this season, setting a PR in hammer throw this outdoor season. She would be one of three graduating seniors honored this year, alongside Billings local
Toree Manning and
Gabi Becker, both distance runners. Manning totaled a 3.25 GPA and is set to graduate with a degree in health & human performance, and Becker will earn her degree in communications, collecting a GPA of 3.20.
To earn Academic All-GNAC honors, a student-athlete must be competing in their second season with a GNAC program, while earning a 3.20 GPA or higher.
