COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After winning three out of four singles matches in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, Montana State University Billings women's tennis senior
Emily Paffhausen has been selected as a second-team all-conference honoree announced by the conference Thursday.
Â
"Emily is very deserving of all-conference as she had an amazing record playing at No. 6 for us," commented MSUB head coach
Becky King. "She improved so much this year, and I am so happy for the way the season has ended for her."
Â
Paffhausen is a four-year letterwinner with the Yellowjackets, and served as the team captain for the 2015 season.
Â
She cruised to victory in her first three conference singles matches of the season, and finished the spring with an overall record of 4-2 for MSUB playing in the No. 6 position.
Â
Paffhausen proved her tenacity, winning the only match she played in that advanced to a third set in MSUB's RMAC opener against Western New Mexico. Despite losing the first set 7-5, Paffhausen rallied for a 6-4 win in the second set before finishing off with a 10-8 triumph to give MSUB its lone singles point of that match.
Â
Paffhausen was also a major contributor for MSUB at the No. 2 doubles position, as she and partner
Mary Conwell went a perfect 5-0 in conference play this season.
Â
Ganna Tiurina of Western New Mexico was picked as the RMAC Player of the Year, Courtney Wright of Metro State was the Freshman of the Year, and Yair Banuelos of WNMU was tabbed as the Coach of the Year in the RMAC.
Â
Paffhausen will lead the Yellowjackets into the conference tournament, which kicks off Friday morning at 8 a.m. as No. 4 MSUB squares off against No. 5 Metro State.
