MEDORA, ND.- The Montana State Billings Cross Country teams competed in Medora, North Dakota at the Blue Hawk Invitational on Saturday. The Jackets' battled against Division II and Naia schools from across North Dakota with the women placing second overall amongst the six teams competing.
The women's 6K race began at 12pm, with
Cecily Eagleton crossing the finish line first for the Jackets' at 24:33.10. Eagleton finished just outside the top 10 with an 11
th place finish, her highest individual placement in her time as a Yellowjacket.
Madeline Severson finish just two spots behind her in 13
th place with a time of 24:45.10, beating her previous best 6K time by 13 seconds and recording her highest career placing.
Carey Berendsen also placed in the top-20 with a time of 25:02.80. Junior
Gabi Becker finished fourth on the team with a time of 25:31.60 and 22
nd overall.
Sara McCabe followed two runners behind Becker with a time of 25:42.00 in her first collegiate 6K race.
Alahna Lien and
Toree Manning rounded out the top-30 finishers in 28
th and 30
th with times of 25:47.20 and 25:59.20, respectively.
Chloe Shennum and
Emma Weaver rounded out the Yellowjacket runners with times of 26:37.00 and 27:58.90. The women overall placed second out of six in the team competition, their best team finish in recent history.
The Men's 8K race began just after the women at 12:45pm. Only two runners suited up for the Jackets', both placing in the top-30. Freshman
Lennon Davis completed his second collegiate 8K race with a time of 28:02.10, beating his personal best 8K by placing 18
th in the meet.
Wyatt May was the last Yellowjacket to cross the finish line with a time of 29:10.20.
THE BUZZ: Lennon Davis and
Cecily Eagleton were named the Intermountain Health Performers of the Day.
