ANCHORAGE, Alas.- Highlighting the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships, the Montana State University Billings cross country team competed for the title at Kincaid Park.
Bryant Edgerton had his best team finish of the year, leading the way for the Yellowjacket men. Edgerton finished 35
th place among the 83 men competing with an 8k time of 26:40.0. "Bryant had a great day," said head coach Jon Woehl. "Today was the best collective run he's produced all year."
The Yellowjacket men took 10
th place out of the 10 GNAC teams competing, finishing with a team score of 259 points. "The men had a tough day and were hard on themselves after the race," said Woehl. "Although, I felt like they ran well and will be able to use this to bounce back even better at NCAA West Regionals."
Following Edgerton was freshman phenom
Andrew Rush who didn't have his best day but was still able to place himself 48
th overall, with a time of 27:01.0.
Wyatt May was next across the line with an 8k time of 27:58.1 in 66
th place, followed by
Will Hyatt at 28:24.1 in 70
th. Also competing for the Yellowjacket men was
Nate Tweedy in 75
th place at 28:55.6, and
Jackson Bailey in 83
rd place at 30:18.9
Carey Berendsen had her best MSUB finish leading the 'Jackets as well. Berendsen placed herself in 50
th place out of the 78 women competing with a 6k time of 23:46.4. "Carey ran extremely well," said coach Woehl. "She also had one of her best run's all year and it came at the right time."
The Yellowjacket women also placed 10
th out of the 10 GNAC teams competing with a team score of 273 points, just two points shy of beating Central Washington. "It was a great day for our women," said coach Woehl. "They were just a few points shy of Central but most of them had 6k personal records, which was awesome to see."
No surprise here,
Cecily Eagleton had another strong finish with a 6k personal best of 23:55.2 and placed 53
rd overall. Following Eagleton was
Madeline Severson in 71
st at 24:27.9,
Aspen Tolman in 71
st at 25:27.9, and right behind her was
Toree Manning in 73
rd at 25:44.1. Also, with MSUB career bests was
Chloe Shennum in 75
th place at 26:12.8 and
Emma Weaver in 78
th place at 27:34.0.
THE BUZZ: Bryant Edgerton and
Carey Berendsen were named Intermountain Health Performers of the Day.
