BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Jon Woehl announced the signing of eight athletes for the 2020-21 season. Kendall Lynn, Garrett McMillen, Ngahina Musselman, Bryce Olsen, Isaak Reid, Josh Scott, Aspen Tolman and Ally Whitmer have all signed National Letters of Intent to become Yellowjackets this coming fall.
With the addition of these eight athletes the 2020-21 recruiting class has now swelled to 22 new faces that will be joining the team in the fall. Coach Woehl has made it a priority to add numbers as well as multi-sport athletes that can contribute in a multitude of ways.
"Next year's team is really taking shape, has a ton of potential and high expectations," said coach Woehl. "I'm looking forward to this fall so we can begin the process and start to improve together."
Kendall Lynn
Three Forks, MT
5'6"- Jumps/Sprints/Hurdles
Intended Major: Biology
The former Three Forks High school Wolf joins MSUB as an accomplished athlete having earned letters in track, basketball and Volleyball. Lynn was named to the all-State track and field team and is a former state champion in the triple jump.
Lynn is the holds the Three Forks High School record in the triple jump at 36'4.5". She won the Iron Women Award and was an academic all-State winner each year for each sport she competed in.
In addition Lynn was named team captain of the Wolves' basketball team, was defensive player of the year and a first team all-Conference selection as a point guard.
Coach Woehl on Lynn: "Kendall is a great student and an accomplished jumper having won the triple jump last spring. I believe not only will she have good marks but she'll be a great teammate."
Lynn on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because they not only have a good school with a degree I am interested in, but they also have an opportunity for me to further my track and field career despite not have a high school season."
Garrett McMillen
Park City, MT
5'10"-Sprints/Jumps/Throws
Intended Major: Construction Management
Earning letters in football, basketball and track McMillen is a two time all-conference selection in track. His junior year he earned all-State recognition along with being named team captain.
His senior year he was named second team all-conference in eight man football in route to being selected to the eight man all-star team. While competing in basketball for the Panthers this past season, McMillen was selected first team all-conference and named to the senior classic.
Coach Woehl on McMillen: ": Garrett is highly motivated has room to grow having been a three sport athlete all through high school in Football, Basketball and Track & Field."
McMillen on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because it is a great opportunity to continue my track and field career as well as an opportunity to purse a degree in construction management."
Ngahina Musselman
Hawthorne, NV
5'2"-Hurdles
Intended Major: Education
The Hawthorne, Nevada native will head north to join MSUB as one of the only athletes in the entire class who competed solely in track throughout her entire high school career. Having being named the hardest worker and Most Valuable Player for the Mineral County High School Serpents, Musselman competed in the 100 meter dash, 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles.
Specializing in the 300m hurdles, Musselman ran a personal best 59.45.

Musselman on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because becoming a Yellowjackets has been a goal of mine for a long time. I have extended family in Billings and have always loved going to MT since I was a little girl. I enjoy meeting new people and I am looking forward to many new adventures to come while competing and earning my degree."
Bryce Olson
Three Forks, MT
5'9"- Jumps/Sprints
Intended Major: Accounting
The second former Three Forks High School Wolf to join MSUB, Olson is transferring from Montana State University after taking classes for one year in Bozeman, MT. A standout in basketball, cross country and track for the Wolves Olson holds the school record in the triple jump (43.2), Pole Vault (13'6") and the 5K (17:58). He is an academic all-state selection each year in each sport as well as a former team captain in track.
Olson earned first team all-conference and second team all-state recognition his senior year in basketball.
Coach Woehl on Olson: "One of Bryce's best events is the triple jump which requires you to be athletic and coordinated. I'm excited at the prospect of getting to coach him this fall."
Olson on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I wanted a smaller school with a great community field but located in a larger town with plenty of things to do."
Isaak Reid
Sparks, NV
5'9"- Distance
Intended Major: Undecided
A two time all-region selection for the Spanish Spring High School Cougar's cross country team, Reid carries a personal best 10:18 in the 3200 and a 4:52 in the 1600. He ran a personal best 16:47 in the 5k and is part of a two time league championship cross country team.
Coach Woehl on Reid: "Isaak is very hardworking and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to Track & Field. He will make a great addition to not only our distance crew but our entire team."
Reid on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because it has an environment I can thrive in. The track and field program is on the rise with the coaches I believe can best help me reach my full potential."
Josh Scott
Nampa, ID
6'1"-Hurdles
Intended Major: Criminal Justice
Another multi-sport athlete Scott is one if not the only recruit to have competed as a wrestler in high school. He qualified three times for the state tournament and competed at the district level once. He also competed in football for the Columbia High School Wildcats.
On the track, Scott was a team captain, a two-time district qualifier and a state qualifier. In the 110m hurdles, Scott was ranked first in the Southern Idaho Rankings, first in the full district three rankings, first on the 4A rankings, first in the Idaho Rankins and was ranked 944
th in the entire country.
Woehl on Scott: "Josh has consistently improved as a hurdler over his high school track career and I can't wait to help him continue that same trajectory this coming season."
Scott on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I really like the school and the area has is so much to do. MSUB has my choice of study and a really good track and field team. The school brings a family feel to it and that is what I was looking for in a college. I wanted somewhere close to home also and it is just a few hours away from my home. I think MSUB is a perfect fit for me."
Aspen Tolman
Westminster, CO
5'2"-Distance
Intended Major: Education
The Colorado runner comes to MSUB having earned letters in cross country, track, soccer and swimming for Standley Lake Gators. Tolman played goalie on the pitch and was a 200 individual medley swimmer.
Tolman has a personal best 21:57.42 in the 5K and a 50:17.6 in the 10K while competing in cross country. On the track she tan personal bests of 33.41 in the 200m dash, 2:54.26 in the 800m, 6:28.25 in the 1600m and 13:41.49 in the 3200m. She was part of the first place team that competed in the 2019 Desert Twilight Championships and was named most influential cross country athlete the same year.
In addition to athletic success, Tolman was twice named as an outstanding service hour member, earned the Principal's academic letter award and earned a varsity letter in music.
Woehl on Tolman: "Aspen consistently works hard in and out of the classroom and I believe that will make her a great teammate and distance runner."
Tolman on choosing MSUB: "When visiting Montana State University Billings it felt comfortable. I had visited many wonderful colleges but Montana stuck out as more of a home. The team was wonderful and I could see myself fitting in. I admired the coaching style and how I was not pressed to make a decision. I could see myself being very comfortable at Montana and being able to feel welcomed."
Ally Whitmer
Pocatello, ID
5'6"-800/1500
Intended Major: Pre-Pharmacy
A transfer from Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon Whitmer competed in cross country for the past two years and track for her final year at TVCC. In high school she earned letters in track, cross country and basketball.
Her entire high school career she earned the Outstanding Individual Scholastic Award. She is a three time state champions in the 4x4 medley. Whitmer's personal bests include a 26.9 in the 200m dash, a 1:02 in the 400m dash, 2:28 in the 800m and a 19:21 in the 5K.
Woehl on Whitmer: "Ally has improved tremendously during her time at Treasure Valley and I'm looking forward to her bringing her strong drive to reach her goals to our team."
Whitmer on choosing MSUB: "I have always lived in the Mountain West and decided MSUB was the best fit for me. I am very excited to move to a larger town, a larger school and to be a part of the Yellowjacket's cross country and track & field teams."
