CHADRON, Neb. – The Montana State University Billings track and field team competed well in the Chadron State Open led by
Brenna Beckett who took home first in the long and triple jump.
"We had really good day overall," said head coach Jon Woehl. "The team is starting to come together, work hard really have each other's back. That effort is starting to show up with improvements in all events."
Beckett posted a season best in the long jump of 5.09meters and a new personal best for indoor triple jump with a mark of 10.75m.
Mariah May had a personal best in the shot put as she tied for fourth place with a throw of 37'5". May was also the top finisher for MSUB in the weight throw with a sixth place finish on a throw of 45'2.25".
Taylor Stringari finished in tenth with a 34'5" toss in the shot put.
Sierra Durbin turned in a top five finish in the 800m dash with a time of 2:31.77 good enough for fifth place. Senior
Miranda Livingston finished in ninth place with a time of 2:46.92.
Rachel Hiner was not far behind in eleventh place running a 2:48.63.
On the men's side,
Mason Schram and
Kyle Patelis each made the finals in the 60m dash. Schram took fourth place with a time of 7.11 while Patelis ran a 7.24 good enough for eighth. Patelis finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 23.69 as well.
In the one mile run,
Ase Ackerman finished in third with a time of 4:32.89 and right on his heels was fellow sophomore
Logan Straus in fourth place with a time of 4:36.43.
Ronald Venema turned in a time of 9:42.39 in the 3K which was good enough for third place.
Bryant Edgerton was fourth with a run of 9:45.72.
Forrest Cross again had a solid performance with a third place finish in the shot put with a throw of 45'9".
Ely Kraft finished fifth with a personal best of 44'8.75". Cross was MSUB's top weight thrower of the day with a 47'2.25" hurl for seventh place. Kraft finished in eighth with a 44'2" throw.
