BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings track and field teams received several notable performances in the first indoor meet of the season, competing against Montana State, the University of Montana and Carroll College Friday evening in the Bobcat Preview meet.
The Yellowjackets participated in 18 events in Bozeman. The meet had the added dimension of being at 4.926 feet of altitude.
"Overall I felt it was a good first meet," commented head coach Jon Woehl. "We had several good performances. We have some things to work on but we will work to get better and I am looking forward to the next meet and the rest of the season. "
Isaiah Girard finished tie for second in the men's high jump posting a leap of 1.96 meters. Girard also finished in 11
th in the long jump with 6.21 meters.
Marcus Lindquist took home third place in the men's triple jump with a bound of 13.22 meters.
On the men's throws side,
Ely Kraft finished in fifth place in the men's' weight throw with a toss of 13.75 meters.
Kyle McLaughlin finished in seventh place with a throw of 12.08 meters.
In distance running,
Bryant Edgerton came in fourth in the men's 5,000 meters in a fast heat with a final time of 16:54.37.
Rahkei Eyer takes home a top-10 finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.96 seconds good enough for sixth overall. 7.33
Kyle Patelis placed just outside the top 10 coming in at 12
th place with a time if 23.30 seconds. Patelis also tied for seventh in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.11.
On the women's side,
Brenna Beckett led the way for the 'jackets. Competing in three events, Beckett's best result was a fifth place finish in the women's triple jump with a 10.70 meter leap. She also finished eighth in the long jump (5.07m) and seventh in the 200 meter dash (27.55).
Fresh off the cross country season, senior
Nikki Aiken finished in fourth place in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:15.89 while
Kailee Stoppel took home fifth running a 19:46.07.
Comprising half of the throws competitors, the MSUB women were paced by
Mariah May who finished seventh in the shot put with a 11.31 meter heave and a personal best sixth place in the weight throw at 13.66m.
Senior
Taylor Stringari was right on her heels with an eighth place finish in the shot put (10.50m) and a seventh place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 12.56m.
WHATS NEXT: MSUB does not compete again until the New Year. The 'Jackets will travel to Idaho to compete in the Snake River Invite hosted by Idaho State University on January 10-11, 2020.
