BILLINGS, Mont. – Adding a second signing for the 2019-20 academic year on Thursday, the Montana State University Billings men's golf team announced the addition of Kevin Kolb of Spearfish, South Dakota.
 
Kolb is the second men's golf player to sign with the 'Jackets for next year, joining Paul O'Neil of Laurel. "We are excited to add Kevin to the program at MSUB," said Yellowjacket associate head coach Jeff Allen. "He will be a great addition both on and off the golf course. He has had a quality junior golf and high-school career, and continually strives to get better. I feel that his greatest attribute is that he loves to practice, which is what we strive to find in a student-athlete. I am excited to see the impact that he will make not only on our team but within our university as well."
 
Kolb is completing his career at Spearfish High School, where he has participated in both golf and basketball for four seasons. He is a two-time team MVP in golf, and last year was selected to the Black Hills Conference all-league squad. He has been nominated for the Sioux Falls Argus Leader Golfer of the Year, and was also picked by his team to receive the hardest working award.
 
"I chose MSUB because I felt like the golf program was a perfect fit for my game," Kolb said. "I was looking for a program that suited my academic needs, as well as a golf team full of hard work and dedication. I also feel like Coach (Kevin) Woodin and Coach Allen will help me grow my game and help me be the best golfer I can be."
 
Last year, Kolb helped the Spartans to a conference runner-up finish and he has also piloted the team to three conference titles. He was a top-10 finisher in the South Dakota Golf Association junior championship, and was the 2018 South Dakota State Class AA tournament runner-up.
 
MSUB's men's golf team resumes its 2018-19 season on March 8-9 at the Beaver Invitational in Las Vegas.
