Jake Hedge completed the three-round tournament at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club on Wednesday with a score of 242 (86-76-80) to finish in a tie for 84th place.

"I am proud of Jake this season," commented MSUB head coach Shawn O'Brien. "The past week we played on a very difficult course, and he competed every day and got better and better throughout the week."

Hedge finished with five birdies on the tournament, and was just 4-over par in Round 2 on the par-72, 6,747-yard course. He had a string of par or better on five-straight holes and finished with par or better on nine of the first 11 holes in his second round.

He also started the front nine strongly in Round 3, with a birdie interrupting a string of five pars to start off.

Winning the team title was Cal State Monterey Bay, which finished with a score of 887 (290-303-294). The Otters had a 19-stroke victory over second-place Sonoma State, which completed the tournament with a score of 906 (300-297-309).

Ray Richards of CSUMB holed a 50-foot eagle putt on 18 to pull into a tie with Patrick Skakel of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs for first place in the tournament. Richards finished with a 217 (73-73-71) while Skakel matched him at 1-over par with a 217 (73-70-74).
A total of 20 teams and eight individuals competed in the tournament, with a total of 108 players making up the field.

The top-5 teams and top two individuals not on an advancing team will continue on to the NCAA National Championships.

Hedge entered the tournament as the No. 4 scorer in all of the GNAC, as his average of 73.0 strokes was the lowest in MSUB history. He was also a first-team all-conference selection.
