Nocona Frame finished second in the women's invitational mile and set a new MSU Billings record, besting the record she set last year. Junior
Robert Peterson was also a second place finisher in the men's invitational mile at the Mountain State Games hosted by Idaho State University.
"I think the highlight of this weekend's meet was Nocona coming in second and setting a new MSUB record," MSUB head coach
Dave Coppock said. "She has been working really hard and is coming along great in that event.
Robert Peterson also had a good day on the track finishing second as well."
Frame crossed the finish line in 5:12.66, three seconds faster than the 5:15.36 she ran last year to set the record. Frame was second behind Keli Dennehy from the University of Montana who finished the race in 5:07.94. For her efforts, Frame was named the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Meet.
Peterson completed the mile in 4:16.51 behind unattached runner Mike Hardy, a former Weber State track and field athlete.
Other top-5 results for MSU Billings came from senior
Melanie Bock, sophomore
Dominique Holt, and freshmen
Liam McKay and
Mark Hovland.
Bock finished fifth in the women's 3,000m run in 11:10.36. McKay was fourth in the men's 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:02.48.
Holt, a transfer from Carroll College, finished tied for fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 1.83m. Hovland came in fourth in the men's 3,000m in 9:24.03.
