Women’s Tennis Wrap Up Regular Season

Billings, Mont. – Montana State Billings women's tennis team concluded their 2013 regular season schedule Saturday, April 6 as they took on Colorado State-Pueblo and Western New Mexico. The Yellowjackets were defeated in both contests and finish fifth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 1-4 record.
 
MSUB lost a close match against CSU-Pueblo, 4-5; as both teams split their singles matches 3-3, the deciding factor was in doubles play with the Thunderwolves taking two out of three matches. Mary Conwell and Emily Paffhausen won their No. 2 doubles bout 8-3 over Teresa Haro and Toni Alverez.
 
The Jackets led 4-2 going into the No. 4 singles match, but CSU-Pueblo put together three solid singles performances to steal the one point victory over MSUB. Hannah Shephard, Madeline Loomis and Conwell notched singles victories in the event.
 
MSU Billings would not find similar success in their Western New Mexico matchup, falling 0-9. The Mustangs controlled the contest from the opening serve and walked away with the sweep.
 
The Yellowjackets will have two weeks off before they head to Grand Junction, Colo. to compete in the RMAC Championship Tournament Friday, April 19-20. MSUB will enter the tournament as No. 5 seed.
