Yellowjacket Women’s Golf in Fourth after Day 1

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Montana State University Billings' women's golf team shot a 350 and is 10 strokes back from the leader after the first day of the Maverick Spring Invitational.

Cayley Fish led MSUB with an 85 in Round 1. The sophomore is in sixth place, 10 strokes behind the leader, Nicole Hulbert of Regis. Fish had a 43 through the front nine, and a 42 on the back nine. As a team, the Yellowjackets are 10 strokes behind first-place, Colorado State-Pueblo.

Breanna Cameron is in 12th place in the 33-golfer field. The junior shot an 87, one stroke ahead of teammate Melissa Saken. Mariah Cleveland is participating as an individual and is in 15th with an 89. Katie Fish and Capri Ingram both recorded a 90 on the first day. Saken and Cameron both made nine pars. Saken was one of three golfers that shot at least par on the par-three holes.

Adams State is in second with a 344, led by Rachel Dyess' second place 82. Hulbert has a commanding lead over the field, which includes three golfers tied for third. Regis sits in third with a first round 346.

The MSU Billings' men slipped from ninth to 12th from the first round to the second round at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, Calif. The Yellowjackets shot a 309 in Round 1 and a 327 in the second round. As a team, MSUB is 60-over-par.

Houston Bradbury leads Montana State Billings with a 156. The Billings native recorded a 77 in the first round and a 79 in the second round. The sophomore is 12-over-par. Gage Huft fell from 19th to 38th with a Round 1 75 and a second round 82. Eric Gravbrot shot a 158 (44th), Brad Harrelson has a 166 (72nd), and Marcus Drange recorded a 169 (77th). Wyatt Nielson carded a 162 (61st) as an individual.

The host, No. 15 Cal State-Stanislaus is the only school under-par at two-under with a 574. The Warriors have a 15-stroke advantage over eighth-ranked Cal State-Monterey Bay. Cal State-Stanislaus has three golfers at the top of the leaderboard, led by Trevor Clayton. The freshman is six-under-par after the first two rounds. The Warriors' Paul Smith followed his 69 morning round with a 73 for a two-under 142 for second place.

The MSUB men tee off at 8 a.m. Pacific Time Tuesday, while the Yellowjacket women begin their second round at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. Live results are available on MSUBSports.com from the men's tournament following each round.
