Yellowjackets Battle Strong Field at Spring Bulldog Clash

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — The Montana State University Billings men's golf team rounded out their spring opener at the Spring Bulldog Clash with a three-round total of 929, carding rounds of 313, 304 and 312 at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
 
Competing in a deep 20-team field, the Yellowjackets faced stiff competition from tournament champion and 34th ranked USCA, which finished at 857 (+17). Lenoir-Rhyne, who is ranked 48th in the nation, claimed runner-up honors at 867 (+27), while #85 Coker placed third at 873 (+33). The Yellowjackets shaved nine strokes off their opening-round score in round two but were unable to maintain that momentum during Tuesday's final round to finish out in 20th place.
 
As a team, the Yellowjackets opened Monday with a 313, responding with a nine-stroke improvement in round two, posting a 304 as they found more consistency throughout their lineup. The second round proved to be MSUB's most complete performance, with multiple players posting scores in the low-to-mid 70s.
 
Individually, Pete Netrnilweerachot paced the Yellowjackets, tying for 55th overall at 226. He opened with a steady 74 before firing his best round of the event, a 71 in the second round to climb the leaderboard. Netrnilweerachot closed with an 81 on Tuesday to finish as MSUB's top scorer.
 
Aubrey Kelley delivered consistent play across all three rounds, keeping the Yellowjackets within striking distance during the middle portion of the tournament. Kelley finished tied for 71st at 229, turning in rounds of 76, 76 and 77. Cameron Hackmann tied for 93rd at 238 (+28), highlighted by a second-round 73 that marked one of MSUB's stronger individual rounds of the event. Mark Pramounmat tied for 97th at 241, rebounding from an 84 in round two with a closing 76. Bowdie Fox rounded out the lineup in 102nd place at 251, improving by three strokes from his second to third round.
 
THE BUZZ: Pete Netrnilweerachot earned Intermountain Health Round of the Day honors with his 71 in round two, followed by Mark Pramounmat earning the recognition for his final round 76.
 
UP NEXT: The Yellowjackets will look to build on their second-round momentum when they return to action March 2-3 at the Sapona Intercollegiate in Lexington, North Carolina.
