BILLINGS, Mont. -- Taking a five stroke lead into the final round of the Rocky Mountain College Invitational, Montana State Billings senior
Kalli Stanhope held on to win the event by one stroke after carding a three-round total of 219 and helping the Yellowjackets to a third place finish.
Stanhope shot a final round 77 after scoring a 72 and 70 yesterday, defeating Brandi Bork and Jenteal Jackson of Westminster College who shot a three-round total of 220.
The Yellowjackets finished behind Westminster (898), who scored a NAIA national record of 291 in the second round, and Lewis-Clark State (927), after scoring a 931 (305-301-325). There were nine teams in the women's team score.
Junior Liz Tikriit shot a final round 77 to care a three-day total of 234, while sophomore Melissa Sake shot 82 on Monday to card a 236. Freshman
Katie Fish (76-82-91) and sophomore Breanna Cameron (83-77-89) carded a 249.
On the men's side, MSUB played a 'B' team in the RMC tournament, finishing sixth overall. The Yellowjackets scored an 894 after shooting 300-293-301 during the three rounds.
Marcus Drange finished the tournament with a 214 after carding a three-under 69 in the first round, followed by a 71 and 74 in the final two rounds. Freshman Houston Bradbury scored a 218 (75-70-73), while sophomore's Jake Letman (77-71-73) and Mac Keating (79-82-80) carded a 222 and 241, respectively.
The women's team is off now until late October when they play in the MSUB/RMC Ryder Cup.
