BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Montana State University Billings men's golf team rounded out their season opening tournament finishing tenth after three rounds of play at the Family Motors Invitational hosted by Cal State-Bakersfield Tuesday. 

The Yellowjackets finished with 881 after shooting rounds of 295, 289 and 297 ending the tournament at seventeen over par.  Western Washington led the team competition posting 836 with rounds of 282, 274 and 280 finishing 28 under par.  Host Bakersfield was just five strokes off the pace placing second with rounds totaling 841.  Grand Canyon rounds out the top three teams with 857 shooting rounds of 285, 286 and 286.

Junior Chris Haas (Jr., Bozeman, MT) shot rounds of 75, 69 and 74 to tie for twenty-third with a 218.  Teammate Nicholas Larson (Fr., Riverton, WY) finished his tournament shooting 72, 73 and 73 to tie Haas for twenty-third place.  Chris McConnell (Jr., Lewistown, MT) finished one stroke behind Haas and Larson to tie for twenty-seventh with rounds totaling 219.  Western Washington's Luke Bennett posted a three-round total of 202 shooting 70, 64 and 68 to win the tournament at fourteen under par.
