BAKERSFIELD, CA – Consecutive sub-300 rounds on Monday placed the MSU Billings men's golf team in thirteenth place after two rounds at the Elco Inc. Intercollegiate hosted by Cal State-Bakersfield.
Chris McConnell shot a 2-over 146 to lead the Yellowjackets. The junior from Lewistown, Mont., carded rounds of 72 and 74 to end the first day in a tie for 27
th place, nine shots off the lead.
The final round will be held Tuesday morning at the Bakersfield Country Club. Shane Prante of St. Martin's is in the lead at 5-under. Hawaii-Hilo is running away with the team standings at 12-under par 564. Cal State-San Marcos is in second place at even par 576.
Zach Abels (Fr., Twin Falls, ID) and
Nicholas Larson (Fr., Riverton, WY) are each in the top 50 for the Yellowjackets. Abels is tied for 45
th with a 6-over 150. Larson is tied for 50
th with a 7-over 151.
