WINDSOR, CO – MSU Billings golfers
Chris Haas and
Chris McConnell both carded top ten finishes at the Northern Colorado Invitational by shooting final-round 74s on Tuesday. Haas finished alone in sixth place with a two-round total of 154 on the 7164-yard par-72 Pelican Lakes Golf Course. McConnell finished tied for eighth with a 161.
Four of the five Yellowjacket golfers shot lower scores on the second day of the tournament which was at time delayed by snow. Haas moved from eighth to sixth by scoring six strokes better in the second round.
McConnell jumped form 13
th to 8
th with his nine-stroke improvement on the second day. As a team Tuesday, the Jackets were 14 strokes better than their first round performance, finishing fourth with a two-day total of 654.
MSU Billings is in its first season of competition after adding men's and women's golf in the fall. The UNC meet was the Jackets' second of the spring. They are scheduled to play in two more events in April, giving them enough meets to be eligible for competition at the regional and national finals. Eight teams qualify for the regional, along with five at-large individuals from non-qualifying teams. MSUB will play at the Colorado School of Mines Invitational on April 20 and at the Regis University Invitational on April 22.
