SPEARFISH, S.D. – Freshman thrower
Aubrie Christman, plus junior distance runners
Ase Ackerman and
Logan Straus made their way onto the Montana State University Billings indoor track and field team's all-time top-10 lists after the first day of the Dave Little Alumni Mile meet in Spearfish, S.D. on Friday night.
"The meet went pretty well," MSUB head track coach
Jonathan Woehl said. "The throwers went 6-for-6 with everyone setting new PRs.
Ase Ackerman and
Logan Straus went 1-2 in the 5K, plus
Carson Jessop had an indoor PR. And everyone in the distance medley relays had faster splits than they did when running their open events last week."
Leading a group of underclassmen throwers,
Aubrie Christman tossed a 13.51m (44-4) in the weight throw – more than one meter further than her collegiate debut last week at the Bobcat Challenge. Additionally, Christman's mark ranks ninth all-time at MSUB. Fellow freshman
Danara Tulimaiau rounded out the top five with her throw of 13.16m (43-2.25), which was also a new personal best.
Over on the track,
Ase Ackerman and
Logan Straus hung together throughout the men's 5,000 meter run, holding off the field to finish 1-2. Ackerman's 15:20.69 won the event and was the fourth-fastest indoor time in MSUB history, while
Logan Straus' 15:22.29 is the fifth-fastest time at MSUB. Senior
Carson Jessop ran an indoor 5K for the first time since his freshman year, smashed his previous indoor best with a 15:50.45 and placed ninth.
Aside from Ackerman, MSUB's other win of the night came courtesy of its men's distance medley relay team, which consisted of
Jordi Peiro,
Benjamin Ralston,
Jackson Bailey and
Bryant Edgerton. The quartet beat Rocky Mountain College's relay team by 13 seconds for the win.
