Bellingham, Wash. – The Montana State University Billings men's golf team moved up three positions from day one to finish 15^th of 18 teams at the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in a two day event ending Tuesday afternoon. Junior Caleb Trost had the best result on the team and tied for 22^nd place with a three round score of 217 (70-75-72). Trost was just one stroke off his single round low of 69 last season at the Yellowjacket Spring Invitational.
 
"Caleb Trost had a very solid showing at this event," commented head coach Jeff Allen. "I look forward to him continuing that level of play at the Concordia Invite."
 
Concordia University won the event after the Cavaliers shot 844 (388-385-271) with Simon Fraser University 848 (292-281-275) taking second. Ethan Casto (Western Washington University) won individual honors on his home course after shooting a 206 (69-67-70) and was 10 under par over two days.
 
Riley Lawrence took 63^rd place for the Yellowjackets, followed by Garrett Woodin (T-70), Paul O'Neil (T-82), and Payton Stott (T-86).
 
"We finished the event on a good note today with our best team score of the event and a move up the leaderboard," Allen said. "We just had a tough time finishing the second round yesterday afternoon. Fatigue definitely had an effect late in the second round. Our guys will continue to work on getting better at dealing with the grind of a 36-hole day."
 
NEXT UP: The Yellowjackets resume competition at the Concordia Invitational October 7-8 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon. The team has three fall meets remaining before winter break.
 
THE BUZZ: Caleb Trost was named St. Vincent Healthcare player of the meet. Trost was four shots off his three-round low, set last season at the Rocky Mountain College Invitational.
