GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Montana State University Billings men's golf team rounded out their 2025-26 regular season with another strong showing at the 2026 Palm Valley Classic, finishing 13th overall with a three-round total of 857 (283-292-282) at Palm Valley Golf Club.
MSUB's 857 total also carries historical significance, as it ties for the fourth-lowest three-round score in program history, giving the 'Jackets some momentum before they head into post season competition.
The Yellowjackets opened the tournament with a solid 283 in round one before encountering challenges in the second round with a 292. However, MSUB responded in a big way on the final day, firing a 282—their lowest team round of the season—to close out the tournament. The final-round surge not only marked a season-best performance but also helped the Yellowjackets climb two spots on the leaderboard to secure their 13th-place finish in a competitive 20-team field.
"Great week in the desert for both teams," said head coach
Adam Buie. "The men followed the women's success with one of our best events of the year, shooting 283-292-282 to finish 7-under. Strong first and third rounds, and a solid overall showing, including our first win over a top 25 team in two years."
Individually,
Bowdie Fox led the charge with one of the top performances of the tournament, finishing tied for eighth at 9-under par with rounds of 68, 69, and 70 for a 207 total. His 207 ties for the fourth-best three-round score in program history, adding his name to the MSUB record books while securing a top 10 finish against a deep field.
Aubrey Kelley turned in a resilient performance, finishing tied for 52nd at even par. After opening with a 69, Kelley battled through a second-round 78 before bouncing back with another 69 in the final round to return to even for the tournament. The freshman's 216 also broke his previous 54-hole record by three strokes.
Pete Netrnilweerachot added a steady effort for the Yellowjackets, finishing tied for 59th at 1-over par with rounds of 71, 72, and 74. His consistent play across all three rounds helped anchor the MSUB lineup while his 217 crushed his previous three-round record by four strokes.
Mark Pramounmat placed tied for 78th at 4-over par, highlighted by a strong closing round of 69 to post a 54-hole score of 220, while
Kaopun Akmaneenin rounded out the scoring group in 94th at 227.
Chico State captured the team title with an impressive 825 (-39), followed by Colorado State-Pueblo at 836 and Cal State San Bernardino at 839 to round out the top three. In the individual race, Colorado Mines' Liam Allan and Chico State's Naoki Easterday shared medalist honors at 12-under par.
"Bowdie had a great tournament and was consistent all three rounds," Buie said. "He's been leading the way this spring and should be in line for GNAC Player of the Week. The men are gaining confidence and improving every time out. It's been fun to watch, and we're excited to compete in Coeur d'Alene in a couple of weeks."
THE BUZZ: Bowdie Fox was named Intermountain Health Player of the Tournament after posting a 54-hole career best 207 that tied for the fourth lowest three round total in program history.
UP NEXT: With another record-tying performance in the books and a season-low round to close, the Yellowjackets will look to carry that momentum into the 2026 GNAC Championships on April 20-22 at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
