PORTLAND, Ore. – A flurry of three goals in two matches has earned Montana State University Billings men's soccer senior
Guillaume Kremer the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award announced by the conference office on Monday.
Kremer scored once in the Yellowjackets' 3-2 loss to Seattle Pacific University last Thursday, and scored both of his team's goals in a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday at Yellowjacket Field. "Even though we didn't get the results we wanted, Guillaume had two good games statistically," commented MSUB head coach
Alex Balog. "He is lethal on set pieces, and that quality is translating into goals. Hopefully Guillaume can help us get back on track this week."
Kremer's first goal of the week was a signature set-piece effort, as he curled a perfectly-placed free kick from 20 yards out into the upper-right corner of the net against the Falcons.
Both of his goals against the Nighthawks came from 12 yards out, as he converted a pair of penalty kicks to help give his team a chance at a comeback after trailing 3-0.
Kremer is now tied for the team lead with four goals this season, and he also has five assists to give him a team-leading 13 points. The senior's point total ranks fifth in the GNAC, and he has had at least one point in six of his last seven matches.
Saturday marked Kremer's second career multi-goal game, as he also had a pair of goals against Northwest Nazarene when the teams met on September 21, 2017 in Billings. The three goals over the weekend moved Kremer into the No. 10 spot in MSUB history, as he has accumulated 14 goals in his three seasons in the program. He is also up to 44 career points, which is tied for No. 7 in school history with Garion Holian (2008-11).
This marks Kremer's third-career GNAC Player of the Week honor, as he also claimed the award on September 26, 2016 as a sophomore and September 18, 2017 as a junior. He is the second Yellowjacket this season to win the honor, joining teammate
Ludvig Rhodin who was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 10.
MSUB (4-6-1, 1-3 GNAC) is back in action at home this weekend, as it hosts GNAC opponents Western Washington University and Concordia University. Thursday's match against the Vikings will kick off at 1 p.m., and Saturday's game against the Cavaliers is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Both games will be doubleheaders with the MSUB women's soccer team, and live video and live statistics will be available online through the
