BILLINGS, Mont. – Building a 3-0 lead by halftime and never looking back, visiting Cal State University San Bernardino raced past the Montana State University Billings men's soccer team in a 6-1 rout Sunday afternoon in the finale of the 2017 Rimrock Classic presented by TNT Automotive & Marine at Yellowjacket Field.
Five different Coyotes found the back of the net, as CSUSB placed 10 of its 15 shots on target in the lopsided result. The Yellowjackets (0-4) didn't go without chances, but managed to convert just one of their 13 attempts on the afternoon.
CSUSB put MSUB under pressure from the beginning, as it took a heads-up defensive effort from sophomore
Oliver Posarelli to prevent the first goal of the match in the opening 10 minutes. The center back raced to the goal line and headed away a high, bouncing attempt by CSUSB's Kevin Aguilar nine minutes after the opening whistle.
The Coyotes (1-3) capitalized shortly thereafter however, as Danny Ortiz took on a defender in the box and ripped home a close shot from a tight angle on the left side of the goal.

Javier Hernandez had to dive to knock away a shot by Aguilar.
CSUSB showed strong defense as well, with Christian Vega chasing down the 'Jackets in the right corner to knock away a breakaway attempt at the last second.
Putting the game out of reach just before the halftime break, Humberto Salcedo punched home a pass by Isaias Castellanos from the top of the goal box.
MSUB came frustratingly close to getting on the score sheet while the deficit was still manageable, but failed to convert on a handful of chances. A penalty kick early in the second half was blasted over the
Sophomore Ignacio Crespo's strong
free-kick attempt led to MSUB's
lone goal on Sunday.
crossbar, a header shot was bounced into the bar, and CSUSB goalkeeper Jacob Huber made a pair of saves on shots from within the box all in the first 20 minutes of the second period.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes' offense kept at work and began to add on in the middle of the second. Immediately after subbing into the game, Aguilar and Kieron Coleman connected two times in the span of 120 seconds to make the score 5-0. Aguilar had the first goal in the 67th minute, driving a powerful shot into the back of the net on a cross by Coleman.
The two reversed roles on the next goal, with Coleman tucking a low shot into the left corner from six yards away on a wide open look from Aguilar's feed.
The 'Jackets finally found the net, after earning a free kick just outside the goal box.
Ignacio Crespo bent a great shot over the wall and forced Huber to dive to his left to knock it away. The rebound kicked to senior
Alexis Chavez, who tallied his first career goal with a composed finish from eight yards away.
Less than a minute later however, Coleman struck again, this time converting a pass from Andres Aguirre that rolled through the box and left him with yet another open look towards goal.
Huber finished with four saves for the Coyotes, while Hernandez and senior
Tom Lohmann split halves in the net for the 'Jackets. Aguilar led all players with six shots in the match, placing four of them on frame.
