Academic All-GNAC	2017 (Senior)

2017: Played key role as starting outside back in senior season…started 15 games and played in 16 overall…played 1,303 minutes…scored first MSUB goal against Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 10…had two assists on the season and four total points…played eight complete games defensively…academic all-conference selection.

2016: Played in 14 matches, starting one primarily as a defender…totaled 406 minutes on the season…took three shots, placing two on target…played a season-high 95 minutes against Saint Martin’s on Oct. 1…averaged 29 minutes per game…took season-high two shots against South Dakota Mines on Sept. 11.

Phoenix College: Helped school to its first-ever outright Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championship…scored five goals and had nine assists in two seasons…enters MSUB with a 3.9 college grade point average.
 
Raymond S. Kellis High School: Four-year letterwinner under Cougar head coach Michael Wakeford…earned all-district honors and a junior and senior…became first freshman at his school to score a goal in a playoff game…also played for Sereno 95 and Valpo 95 club teams…four-time Arizona state champion at club level…helped Sereno 95 reach national championship series where the squad placed fifth…also helped club teams to Surf Cup finals and Presidents Day championship…has been teammates with fellow incoming Yellowjacket Aidan Raj for the last three seasons.
 
Coach Balog on Chavez: "We have been tracking Alexis for a while now, and he is a quick, crafty player with good technical ability. After having lost quality and depth in the defensive and middle thirds, we needed to bring someone in who could help us there. Alexis is that kind of player. He knows what being a student-athlete is about, and we will benefit from his experience."
 
Chavez on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB for both academic and athletic reasons. Academically, the school looks to have an excellent business program which is great for me being a business major. Athletically, it is obvious that the soccer program at MSUB is on the rise over the past couple of years, and I am excited to be a part of it."
