Woodin adds Great Falls’ Renae Heisler to MSUB women’s golf lineup

BILLINGS, Mont. – Announcing the first signing to next season's Montana State University Billings women's golf team on Wednesday, head coach Kevin Woodin introduced Renae Heisler as the latest Yellowjacket to begin her career in the 2017-18 season.

"I am pleased to have Renae join our golf program," said Woodin. "She is a very consistent player who has a passion for golf. I believe her best golf is still to come and I know she will be an asset to our women's golf program next fall."

10268Heisler, currently a senior at Great Falls High School, is a three-year letterwinner in golf and four-year letterwinner in track and field. Recently completing her fall golf season, Heisler placed sixth at the Montana Class AA state championships and earned all-state honors. She also notched a fifth-place individual finish as a junior, while leading the team to a state title.

After being awarded her team's most improved golfer as a junior, Heisler served as team captain and was selected as the Bison's most valuable player this season.

"I chose MSUB because I fell in love with Billings, the campus, and the courses around Billings," Heisler said. "The team and coaching staff made me feel very welcome. I can't wait to be a part of the MSUB golf program next year."

Heisler intends to pursue a degree in biology at MSUB.

Heisler is the first women's golf recruit to sign a letter of intent for next fall. The 'Jackets will resume their 2016-17 season next March, with the Beaver-Jacket Invite in Las Vegas, N.M., on March. 10-11.
