RAPID CITY, S.D. – Sophomore Landon Polkow broke the MSUB outdoor school record in the 400m hurdles as the Yellowjacket track and field teams add several more Great Northwest Athletic Conference provisional qualifying marks.
 
MSU Billings competed in the Bauer Invitational hosted by South Dakota School of Mines Saturday afternoon. This is the third meet of the 2015 season for the Yellowjacket men's and women's track and field teams.
 
Polkow broke his brother's record in the men's 400 M hurdles finishing the race in 55.63, just ahead of the 2013 record of 55.71 set by Lewis Polkow. Landon had already provisionally qualified for the conference championship in the event at the Al Manuel meet in Missoula two weeks ago. Freshman Preston Schubert also surpassed the GNAC provisional qualifying mark, finishing fourth overall in the event in 55.97.

For his performance, Polkow is named the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Meet.
 
Junior Josh Panasuk added to his GNAC provisional marks, this time with a win in the men's 3,000m steeplechase in 9:54.65. Freshman Jorey Egeland finished third, completing the course in 10:11.59.
 
Sophomore Dominique Holt added the second automatic GNAC qualifying mark in the outdoor season for MSUB. Holt placed second in the men's high jump with a height of J1.94m. Along with senior Corrie Holm in the women's discus, Holt is the second Yellowjacket to surpass an automatic qualifying mark for the GNAC outdoor championships this year.
 
Next week, Montana State University Billings is set to host the Second Annual Battlin' Bear Yellowjacket Open on the track at Laurel High School in Laurel, Mont. The meet is scheduled to kick off Thursday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m. Further details will be released on msubsports.com next week.
