Balog increases 2015 recruiting class with 3 more signees

BILLINGS, Mont. – Announcing the signing of three more recruits, Montana State University Billings men's soccer head coach Alex Balog added to his 2015 class with Christian Geronimo, Adam Hepburn, and Blake Crutchfield he announced Tuesday.

"With these three recruits, we have added to an already substantial incoming freshman class," Balog said. "These guys are not only great players, they are also good students and that is a combination we are looking for. All three players are exciting prospects and will be looking for substantial minutes."

Blake Crutchfield
Snohomish, Washington
Snohomish High School
6'0" – Defender

Crutchfield comes to MSUB as a four-year letterwinner for Snohomish High School, where he helped accumulate a 65-5 overall record under head coach Dan Pingrey. A two-year team captain for the Panthers, Crutchfield was also an all-WESCO and all-state selection as a center back.

A goal and an assist in SHS's state championship win stand out as one of the highlight moments of Crutchfield's prep career.

Coach Balog on Crutchfield: "We are very excited Blake Crutchfield decided to join the Yellowjacket family. He is a tall, athletic, and technical center back who has the potential to become an elite player for MSUB and within the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The addition of Blake to the program brings not only stability to our defense, but also stability to our leadership. A captain for his club and high school teams, Blake will compete for minutes as a freshman."

Crutchfield on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because it is an opportunity for me to further my education and to continue playing soccer at a high level."

5572Christian Geronimo
Pittsburg, California
Pittsburg High School
5'11" – Forward

Competing in soccer for three seasons with the Pirates, Geronimo was a team captain and was selected as his squad's most valuable player. He was also selected as an all-star and helped his team to a 9-0-1 record as a Pirate.

Coach Balog on Geronimo: "With the commitment of Christian we have now completed our offensive recruiting. We had to work very hard to secure his signature, but we are very excited to get him. Christian is a very skillful and technical player who, despite his young age, is already highly decorated. Christian will be looking to contribute substantially in his first year with us and hopefully contribute goals and assists."

Geronimo on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I felt welcomed by the coaches and I hope I can make a statement. I am up for any challenge."

Adam Hepburn
Huntington Beach, California
Edison High School
5'7" – Midfielder

A four-year letterwinner under head coach Charlie Breneman, Hepburn is a diverse midfielder who started for the Chargers in his final three prep seasons. He was a three-time Sunset League all-star, starting for a team that was ranked as highly as No. 4 in the nation his junior season.

Coach Balog on Hepburn: "With Adam's addition we have secured technical ability and vision in the middle of the field. Adam comes from a very soccer-savvy area in southern California, and we hope that he will bring that enthusiasm and soccer intelligence to our program. With Adam we also get a very solid student, who will fit very well into our program's philosophy."

Hepburn on choosing MSUB: "Once I met the players and the coaching staff, I knew that this was not just a great team but a true family."
