ORLANDO, Flo.- The Montana State University Billings men's and women's tennis both fell to Grand Valley State University Friday afternoon.  The men were defeated 1-8 and the women lost 0-9.

The men opened the day with doubles.  Christian Fischer and Josh Hedderig were defeated 8-2, Brandon Beardsley and Eric De Romas lost 8-3.  The number three team of Kavindu Gamage and Daniil Gorkov played a tough match and fell 9-7 to the Lakers.

Singles play was not much better for MSUB.  Fischer won the lone match of the day for the Yellowjackets (7-6, 6-2) and improves to 3-0 in singles play but 3-3 overall including doubles.  Gamage was defeated in   in a third set tie breaker (6-4, 3-6, 10-7 in the tie break.

The Women began an hour after the men and ran into a tough matchup in the Lakers.  Madeline Loomis and Morgan Opp fell 8-0, Emily Paffhausen and Mary Conwell lost 8-1 along with Hannah Shephard and Marissa O'Connell were beat 8-2.

In singles play, the Lakers cruised to a sweep of the singles play.  Opp playing number one, fought hard but fell 6-3, 6-4 to Lexi Rice.  

"They adapted and we did not," head coach Lew Kosich said.  "The wind was definitely a factor and we did not adapt well to it.  We still have two matches remaining and will look to end the trip on a positive note."
