Box Score BISMARCK, N.D. – Christoffer Nogueira scored two goals for the University of Mary and a comeback effort by the Montana State University Billings men's soccer team fell short in a 2-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference defeat at the MDU Resources Bowl Saturday afternoon.
Colin Ralston scored MSUB's lone goal of the afternoon, and the 'Jackets could not find an equalizer in the defeat. MSUB held a 14-8 shot advantage on the game, but Mary goalkeeper Jack West came up with six big saves on the Yellowjackets' seven shots on goal.

Tom Lohmann made four saves and had multiple strong clearances on near scoring chances by the Marauders throughout the game. The teams were fairly even in corner kicks, with MSUB winning seven and Mary taking six. Nogueira's game-winning goal came on the last of three-consecutive corners during a stretch in the second half, as his cross sailed directly into the far post.
With the loss, MSUB's record fell to 5-5-3 overall and 5-3-1 in GNAC play. The Marauders won their third game of the season, with their record moving to 3-6-2 and 2-6-1 in conference action. Nogueira improved his season goals total to five, the second most on the team behind Jordan Pearce.
The Yellowjackets won a corner kick in the opening minute, but the UM defense cleared the ball away before MSUB could get a shot off.
Responding on a long counter attack play, the Marauders took the lead just two minutes into the match as Nogueira got past the Yellowjackets' defense and slotted home a shot from 12 yards out.
The Yellowjackets created another chance with a free kick from 29 yards out, winning a corner kick after the ball was deflected out of bounds. The cross sailed dangerously inside the six-yard box, but a shot was blocked by the UM back line.
Kyle Emerick tested West with a shot inside of nine minutes, and the save was made to keep the lead in Mary's hands.
Nogueira took two more shots in the 18th minute, having both knocked down by the MSUB back line.
Fernando Perez countered with his first shot of the match a minute later, missing the target wide to the left.
A miscue by the UM defense midway through the first gave Ralston the ball on the left side of the field, where he won a corner kick on a deflection out of bounds.
Sam Butterworth served in a cross, but a header shot bounced over the crossbar.

Julian Toenges fired a shot on target that West sprung forward on to collect for the save in the 32nd minute.
The Yellowjackets won a free kick a few minutes before halftime, and the Marauders' back line stepped up to clear out a long cross that made its way into the box.
Facing a dangerous scoring chance directly opening the second half, West came off of his line to punch clear a ball and followed it up with a kick to prevent a goal. The 'Jackets earned a free kick at the arc above the 18-yard box, but the wall knocked down the attempt by Toenges before it reached the goal.
The sophomore helped MSUB win a corner a minute later, as he beat a defender into the box on the left side and forced a slide tackle by Mary's defense to clear the ball.
Midway through the second half, Lohmann came up with a big save for the 'Jackets on a shot from point-blank range that he knocked out for a corner kick. On the ensuing possession, Lohmann elevated to punch clear a left-footed shot that was headed towards the net.
The Marauders won three corner kicks in-a-row, the last of which ended up in the back of the net as Nogueira's cross went directly over the goal line.
The Yellowjackets refused to give up after falling behind 2-0, as Ralston got his team back in the game with a goal in the 68th minute on an assist by Toenges to make the score 2-1.
Thorge Jess took a shot several minutes after the goal, before Nogueira launched another of his own. Both attempts were on frame, as each team's keeper came up with a save to keep the score line at 2-1.
The Yellowjackets battled to create chances through the final horn, but the Marauders held tough and prevented another goal.
AHEAD: The Yellowjackets return home to close their regular season schedule with five straight contests at Yellowjacket Field. MSUB will challenge Western Washington on Oct. 23 and Simon Fraser two days later in GNAC action.
