MSUB nearly took the lead twice in the next few minutes, as David Loueng had a shot off of a Butterworth cross blocked, and Tom Saltwell nailed the crossbar off of a cross by Emerick.
Another shot by Saltwell was blocked a minute later, but the Yellowjackets' persistence soon paid off. With 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Jess finished his sixth goal of the season past Olson to give the 'Jackets the 2-1 lead.

"I'm happy for Colin, who is a local guy, as he was able to score the equalizer, and also for Thorge who scored his sixth goal of the season after a difficult game," Balog said. "As a team we can look back on a great performance today and look forward to the games in the Dakotas with a lot of confidence."
