Montana State University Open Results

BOZEMAN, Mont.  – The Montana State University Billings Track and Field team completed their meet on the campus of Montana State University Saturday, Jan. 17.

"We had a really solid meet tonight in Bozeman," Head Coach Dave Coppock said.  "We had two new MSUB indoor records and we had two near school records in the men's mile and in the men's 800."

Competing in her third meet this year, freshman Hope Reid broke her second MSUB Indoor record.  This one was in the 55 meter hurdles as she finished in sixth place overall with a time of 8.87 seconds.  The previous MSUB record was held by Cassie Holm (2009) at 9.29 seconds.  Reid also finished in sixth place in the high jump with a height of 1.51 meters.

On the men's side, Dylan Beuhler set a new school record in the weight throw, breaking his teammate Anthony Montanez' record from earlier in the year, with a throw of 15.78 meters.  That distance earned Beuhler a fourth place finish overall in the event.

Other notable performances include Robert Peterson finishing third in the men's 1 mile race with a time of 4:18.55, which is just shy of the MSUB mark and only .4 seconds from an NCAA provisional qualifier time.  Drew Galahan finished in fourth place in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:56.9, just short of his record of 1:56.17.

"We had made some really good progress this week," Coach Coppock stated. "Due to the school semester just beginning this week, we had some student-athletes competing today that had only been at practice a few days.  At this meet, after the five weeks off for the break, I thought we had some really good results."

The Track and Field team has next week off as they continue their training in preparation for their biggest meet of the season so far at Idaho State University on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

"We are looking forward to another solid week of training," Coach Coppock said. "We will be preparing for the meet at Idaho State - The Mountain States Games.  We should be in great shape for that."
