Billings, Mont. – Montana State Billings battled through two consecutive days of nasty weather conditions to hold a 2-1 series lead over Saint Martin's University. The Yellowjackets and Saints will play the final game in their series on Monday, April 15 at 12 noon in Dehler Park.

Game 1: MSUB  2 – SMU  3

Due to the weather, game 1 which started on Saturday, was postponed until Sunday. Quality pitching highlighted the event, as Brady Muller (L, 4-3) started on the mound for MSU Billings and recorded a game high seven strikeouts. Through five innings, he remained hitless and only allowed two hits and two runs in his seven innings on the mound.

Brendan Jeffers (W, 2-4) started for the Saints and allowed five hits and one run in 6.1 innings.

Bobby Ragasa and Zach Carter replaced the starting pitchers for their respective teams on Sunday afternoon. Carter recorded four strikeouts and was credited with a save, pitching 2.2 innings.

The Yellowjackets hitting crew struggled to find their rhythm, only recording seven total hits in the contest. Mack Unruh had the most success at the plate finishing 2-4 with one RBI.

Chandler Tracey turned in respectable numbers, going 1-3, with two runs and two RBIs.

Saint Martin's held the 2-1 lead before the game was postponed after 7 ½ innings of play. The Saints added a run in the top of the eighth, to hold the 3-1 advantage entering the final inning of play.

Colby Robison drove in Brody Miller with a double to left center, bringing MSUB within one (3-2). The Yellowjackets' momentum would be cut short as the Saints held on to the one point victory; with Unruh striking out and Colter Sternhagen flying out in their final two at bats.

Game 2: MSUB  5 – SMU  2

The Yellowjackets controlled the game from the start, taking an early 2-0 lead after three innings of play. Sternhagen's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth increased MSU Billings' lead by one (3-0) as Miller crossed.
After Saint Martin's scored their first run of the contest in the top of the sixth, Miller then brought Justin Harcharik and Orrin Pyrah home in the bottom of the inning with a double to center field. The Jackets held the 5-1 lead entering the top of the seventh.

In their final at bat, the Saints only managed to score one run off two hits as they left one on base. MSUB cruised away with the 5-2 victory.

Samuel Paterson (W, 4-5) started for the Yellowjackets and pitched all seven innings. He retired seven batters in the contest.

Saint Martin's Chris Womac finished 2-3 with one RBI.

Game 3: MSUB  5 – SMU  3

“Our guys played hard today; we played in some of the worst weather conditions I have seen in my time as a coach,” stated head coach Rob Bishop. “As always, Saint Martin's competed hard as well. They are a much better team that their record reflects.”
