PORTLAND, Ore. – The Montana State University Billings athletic department saw three of it's programs finish with top team GPA's in the GNAC Academic All-Sports rankings, with the conference's academic all-sports trophy awarded on Tuesday afternoon.
The department's three team titles tied for the most academic team championships in the conference, matching Central Washington University who also earned three.
Yellowjacket baseball led the pack amongst all GNAC team with a 3.43 team GPA. In addition to a strong team on the diamond, the MSUB men collected 15 Academic All-GNAC selections, five CSC Academic All-District selections, and one Academic All-American nod. Meanwhile for men's golf, the Yellowjackets earned a cumulative 3.44 GPA, with the team seeing three athletes receive academic all-conference honors during the season.
Meanwhile for softball, MSUB tied with Saint Martin's for first place in the conference, with both squads holding a 3.58 cumulative mark for the season, being recognized as co-champions. MSUB saw nine of it's athletes qualify for Academic All-GNAC honors, while three of it's student-athletes also earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
In addition to it's three first-place finishes, MSUB also earned one more top three finish, with women's basketball coming in second place overall with a 3.69 GPA, just .04 behind first place Central Washington. Six Yellowjacket women earned academic all-conference honors, while three players also went on to earn academic all-district honors.
MSUB finished seventh in the overall team results with 92 total points. The women finished seventh with 62 points, and the men finished eighth with 30 points.
