Rottrup Named GNAC Athlete of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. – For the third time this season, Montana State University Billings' track and field student-athlete, Tanner Rottrup, was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.

At the Idaho State University Open, Rottrup had a mark of 53-5 in the shot put, adding 16 inches to his previous provisional national qualifying put of 52-1 and leaping from sixth place to second on the GNAC all-time Top 10 list. The senior tops the GNAC entering the conference championships, and is 22nd in NCAA Div. II.

Trying to qualify more athletes for the conference championship meet, the Yellowjackets also found success from Sarena Underwood. She set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.48. Underwood finished fourth in the event and provisionally-qualified for the GNAC Championships.

The GNAC Championships begins Friday and runs through Saturday. The heptathlon starts the meet at 10:15 a.m. Friday. Live results will be available on MSUBSports.com.
