MSUB Takes Trip East

BILLINGS, Mont. –The Montana State University Billings Men's Soccer team is heading into game number three of a five game road stretch, traveling to face South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and The University of Mary.

The Jackets defeated SDSMT in their first matchup (Oct. 3rd) 4-2. MSUB was led by Haley Klarich's two goals, Michael Aringer and Sam Butterworth also scored one goal each during the match. MSUB out shot SDSMT 14-4 and led 5-3 shots on goal.

The win against the Hard Rockers was the Jacket's first win of the season along with the first collegiate win for Head Coach Alex Balog.

"After our abysmal performance against SFU, we'll see which one of our players really cares about the MSUB Men's Soccer program," Head Coach Alex Balog said. "SDSMT has come close to getting a result a few times already this season and I know they'll do anything they can to get one against us on Thursday night. The conditions won't be the best in Rapid City, but we'll have to play well and work hard to get a win, which is what we're going for."

Going into the match the Jackets are 3-9-3 overall, 3-6-2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The Hard Rockers are still searching for their first win at 0-14-0, 0-11-0 in GNAC play.

Hard Rocker goalie Timothy Tribbett has 107 saves on the season and a .718 save percentage and has allowed 42 goals on the year.

Yellowjacket goalie, Eoin Hurley, has 59 saves on the year allowing 26 goals and has a .694 Save percentage.

The match is scheduled for 6:30 P.M. Thursday night with live stats and Video can be found at http://www.sdsmt.edu/Athletics/.

The second game sees the Jackets travel to Bismarck, ND for a matchup against The University of Mary.

The Jackets defeated the Marauders 1-0 off of a Haley Klarich goal in the 47th minute. In the first matchup (Oct. 5th), the Marauders let loose nine shots with seven on goal. The Jackets edged that total with a barrage of 10 shots and four landing on goal. Mary held a slight advantage in corner kicks leading MSUB, 5-4. Hurley had six saves on the day.

It has the makings of a competitive match with the Marauders (1-10-2, 1-8-2 GNAC) ranking sixth in shot attempts (176) and the jackets seventh (164) on the year. The Jackets have outpaced the Marauders in points on the year with a total of 45 points to Mary's 39.

"Mary will be a tough one as usual," said Balog. "Bismarck at this time of the year is no joke, so everyone will have to be up for it. At this point, we will see who still has it in them to play with heart, desire and pride for the program and the school."

The game is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Stats and live video can be found at http://goumary.com/.
