Tennis Squads Prepared to Open Conference Play

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings men's and women's tennis teams have enjoyed a break from competition for the better part of a month, but now it is time to get back to business and open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule.

While the two teams haven't competed in a match in that time, that does not mean the teams have not been working hard in anticipation for the conference stretch. The men were tabbed fourth in the pre-season coaches' poll while the women were selected fifth.

Entering this weekend's RMAC opener, the Yellowjacket men currently hold a 1-6 record while the women are 2-8.

The two teams will open the RMAC slate at the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, April 6. Both squads for the Lopers are the pre-season favorites to win the conference this year.

That same day, the Yellowjackets will take part in a bout with the Cougars of Colorado Christian University on Kearney's courts.

Kearney's men enter this weekend's matches 9-7 for the season and have yet to take part in an RMAC match while the women are currently 8-6. Both squads for the Lopes are currently on two-match winning streaks.

Colorado Christian's men are currently 1-6 and are already 0-2 in the league while the Cougar's women are currently 2-4 and 0-2 in the RMAC.
