MSUB Set to Honor 2013 Hall of Fame Inductees

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings' Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes five new members in 2013. Jeff Andresen, Theresa Campbell, Alicia Cazemier, Markus Hallgrimson, and Ally Stroup will join the 139-member Yellowjacket Hall of Fame Friday.

The newest quintet will be honored during the 24th annual Hall of Fame and Distinction Induction Banquet Friday, at the Hilton Garden Inn. The distinguished group includes Andresen a former gymnast, a former softball player Campbell, Cazemier a former volleyball player, a former men's basketball player Hallgrimson, and Stroup a former women's soccer player.

“We are very excited to announce this outstanding class of inductees to our Hilton Garden Inn Yellowjacket Athletics Hall of Fame and Distinction,” MSU Billings' Interim Athletic Director Krista Montague said. “We have a remarkable variety of inductees, and it is truly our honor to welcome these former student-athletes into our Hall of Fame.”

Last year's class included MSUB's first-ever softball coach Jeff Aumend, former football player Gary Monahan, former men's basketball player Cameron Munoz and former women's basketball player Michelle (Lieber) Rodgers.

Fans interested in joining the induction this year may contact the MSUB athletic office at 406-657-2369 for ticket information. Friday's induction begins at 5:30 p.m. The 2013 class will also be honored at Saturday's men's basketball game at halftime.

Jeff Andresen
Men's Gymnastics (1982-85)


Andresen was a key member of a phenomenal four-year run by Yellowjacket men's gymnastics. Montana State Billings finished fifth in

 CAA Div. II in 1982, third place in 1983, fourth place in 1984, and sixth place in the USGF in 1985. He was the leader of MSUB's floor routines. Andresen was a floor USGF All-American during his senior season. He recorded the most total floor points in a single season with 82.35 in 1985, and his 9.55 point total on March 9, 1985, remains the school's single meet record.

Andresen becomes the 12th member from MSU Billings' men's gymnastics to be named to the Yellowjacket Hall of Fame. Greg Anderson, a teammate of Andresen, was the last male gymnast named to the Hall of Fame in 2009.

Theresa Campbell
Softball (2002-05)


Campbell helped begin the rise of the Montana State Billings' softball program. She was a vital member of the 2005 team that made the NCAA Div. II National Tournament; just four years after the program began at MSUB. In 2005, Campbell was named third team NCAA Div. II All-American. She remains the lone MSUB student-athlete to ever be named a softball All-American.

During her senior season, Campbell was also named First Team All-NCAA Div. II West Region and First Team All-Pac West Conference. She was honorable mention All-Pac West in 2004, and second team All-Pac West in 2003. Off of the field, Campbell was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District third team in 2003. She was Pac West Academic All-Conference in 2003, 2004, and 2005.

Campbell hit 15 home runs during her senior year, which is tied for the most in a single season in program history. Her .787 slugging percentage the same season is the school's record. She also had 16 putouts against Western New Mexico on March 13, 2004, is the school record. She hit .385 in 2005, which is ninth in program history for a single season. Her 42 RBI in 2004 is fifth all-time, and her 87 career RBI is sixth. Campbell appears in the program's top 10 in six other statistical categories as well.

Campbell is only the fourth Yellowjacket softball student-athlete to be named to the Hall of Fame. She joins former players Joey (Ehnes) Egan and Kamee Love and Aumend.

Alicia Cazemier
Women's Volleyball (2004-07)


Cazemier was a member of two 20-win seasons, including the Heartland Conference championship team that went to the NCAA Div. II

 outhwest Regional. She was named NCAA Div. II All-Southwest Region First Team in 2006 and Second Team in 2005. She was also named First Team All-Heartland Conference in 2005 and 2006. Cazemier was Second Team All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference her senior season.

Off of the court she was named CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2007, and Third Team in 2006 and 2005. Cazemier was Academic All-GNAC in 2007.

Cazemier holds eight school records. She amassed 1,449 kills with a .304 hitting percentage, which are both records for a career at MSUB. Cazemier is the queen of blocks for Montana State Billings' volleyball. She had 521 total blocks, with 168 solo and 353 assisted, all three marks are school records. Her 67 solo blocks during her junior season is the best in a single season at MSU Billings. On Sept. 8, 2006, Cazemier had 19 total blocks, with eight solo blocks, versus Central Oklahoma, and both are school records. She appears in the program's top 10 in three other statistical categories, including her 412 sets played in a career, which is fourth all-time.

Cazemier is the sixth volleyball player named to the Hall of Fame.

Markus Hallgrimson
Men's Basketball (1998-2000)

A NCAA Div. II All-American in 1999-2000, Hallgrimson holds five current NCAA Div. II national records, and six top school marks. He scored at least 50 points in a game twice while at MSUB. Hallgrimson was a member of the 1997-98 Yellowjacket team that qualified for the NCAA Div. II National Tournament, and won the Pac West Conference.

Hallgrimson was named First Team All-West Region in 1999-2000, and First Team All-Pac West Conference in 1998-99 and 1999-2000. He averaged 6.2 three-pointers made per game in 1999-2000, which is the NCAA Div. II record. That same season, he attempted 382 three-pointers, an average of 14.7 per game, both NCAA Div. II records. Hallgrimson averaged 11.3 three-point attempts per contest during his career, another NCAA Div. II record.

His final NCAA Div. II records came during a single game, attempting 34 three-pointers in a contest, and making 16 of his 28 shots from behind the perimeter against Western New Mexico on Feb. 12, 2000. Hallgrimson made 160 three-pointers in 1999-2000, another school record. His 1998-99 total of 142 made three-pointers is third in program history.

Hallgrimson amassed 1,470 in his career, which is sixth all-time. He finished with a career average of 17.90 points per game, 10th in program history. He appears in the program's top 10 in seven other statistical categories.

Ally Stroup
Women's Soccer (2003-06)


Stroup, a four-year letterwinner, holds six Yellowjacket women's soccer records. She is the program's all-time scoring leading after

 massing 109 total points, 30 points more than the current second place holder. Her career 40 goals and 29 assists are both top school marks. She netted 12 game-winning goals during her career, another program record.

In 2006, Stroup found the back of the net 16 times and assisting in seven other goals, recording 39 points. The 16 goals and 39 points are both school records. That season she recorded a pair of hat trick games against Texas A&M-International and Texas-Permian Basin.

During her career the member of the MSUB 15th Anniversary Team was named First Team Daktronics All-Region in 2006, Second Team NSCAA All-Region in 2003 and 2006, and First Team All-Heartland Conference in 2005 and 2006. Off of the field, she was named Second Team NSCAA Scholar All-American and First Team NSCAA Scholar All-Region in 2006, and CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2005 and 2006. She helped guide the Yellowjackets a 36-15-6 record from 2004 to 2006. She was named the MSUB Female Athlete of the Year in 2006.

Stroup joins Abby (Farmer) Wright and Margot (Merrill) Johnson as the only members from women's soccer in the Hall of Fame.
