Men’s Soccer Gear up for Rematch Against Cougars

Billings, Mont. – Montana State Billings men's soccer team is currently on a two game winning streak and post a 4-0-2 record at Yellowjacket Field. The Jackets will look to extend their winning streak as they enter their last weekend of the regular season. Thursday MSUB will play their rematch contest against the University of Sioux Falls.

The Yellowjackets are currently 10-4-2 overall and fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 6-4-2 mark. Last week MSUB defeated the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology 2-1 with a late second half goal by senior midfielder and co-captain Thomas Chameraud.

The Jackets followed this performance with a dominating outing versus University of Mary. MSUB defeated the Marauders 5-1. Kyle Emerick recorded a hat trick and Chameraud dished out four assists, the record for most assists in a game.

MSUB's defense was stout in both contests as Cameron Lee helped limit the opposition to 11 total shots combined on the weekend. Chameraud and Lee received Red Lion GNAC Player-of-the-Week honorable mention honors for their efforts.

Sioux Falls comes into Thursday's match with nothing to lose as they have found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard in the majority of their contests, and have only been able to acquire one victory in 2012.

Despite their record the Cougars have quality players, especially on the offensive end. Brice Holiday has scored six goals and recorded two assists this season.

Senior defender and co-captain Conner Moe will need to limit Holiday's production and continue to lead a backline that has only allowed a .425 shot on goal percentage from the opposition.

MSUB's attack will need to continue their momentum from the University of Mary match. The Jackets have five players with three or more goals scored this season.

“It will be a tough game for us,” stated eighth year head coach Dan McNally. “Sioux Falls is very well organized and it will be a big challenge for us.”

Following Thursday's matchup, the Yellowjackets will end their regular season with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 3 with a match against Northwest Nazarene University scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
