Tolman Chosen to Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team

Brooke Tolman is a 2011 GNAC and District 8 All-Academic Selection.
BILLINGS, Mont. – Senior setter Brooke Tolman, a 2011 Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic selection, added a second post-season accolade to her resume Thursday as she was named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the Capital One Academic All-District Eight first team.

Tolman is one of three student-athletes to represent the GNAC on the list as she joins Lindsey Wodrich from Seattle Pacific University and Emily Joseph from Western Washington University on the eight-player team.

A 5-8 senior from Honeyville, Utah, Tolman is a two-sport athlete who joined the Montana State University Billings volleyball program last season and currently boasts the second-highest grade point average, 3.86, on the team as a secondary education major with a coaching option.

This season, she leads the team and is second in the conference with 956 assists. In just two seasons, she has already made her way up to fifth all-time for assists in a career (1,739) and is eight assists shy of entering the top-10 for assists in a single season. She is currently sixth in the conference for assists per set (9.76).

Tolman has recorded 12 assists-digs double-doubles this season including a season-high 58 assists in a match against Western New Mexico University on Sept. 10. She also leads the team with 28 service aces which has her tied for third-most in the league.

The rest of the District 8 All-Academic team include Keala Peterson from Sonoma State University, Jessica Leek from California State University at Chico, BYU – Hawaii's Lauren Hagemeyer, Amy Bush of the Academy of Art University and Megan Johnson from California State University San Bernardino.

Tolman and the Yellowjackets will look to close the curtains on the 2011 season on Saturday, Nov.12 when they will host the Falcons of 25th-ranked Seattle Pacific University at Alterowitz Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. match. Saturday's match will also serve as senior night where MSUB's three seniors, Brittney Keele, Melissa Porter and Tolman, will be honored for their contributions to the volleyball program.
