Catherine “Cackie” Germic is in her fourth year as the assistant coach for men’s and women’s tennis. She brings to MSUB years of coaching and tennis playing experience. A native of Michigan, Germic was active in a variety of sports growing up, including lacrosse, volleyball, softball, golf, and tennis. She was a varsity athlete throughout her high school and college years.
After college, Germic had success competing in United States Tennis Association leagues at the 4.5 & 5.0 levels. She earned her USPTA professional certification in 1999 and has been a tennis coach for more than 20 years, working with players of all ages and abilities. Before moving to Billings in 2007, she spent three years coaching tennis in the Middle East where she worked with top juniors, including ranked players from Egypt, Bahrain, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. While living in Cairo, she served as the head tennis professional at the U.S. Embassy Club and as the coach for the boys’ and girls’ high school teams at Cairo American College. After leaving Egypt, she continued coaching high school tennis at the American School of Dubai.
Germic spends her summers as the Director of Tennis/Head Tennis Professional in Pointe Aux Barques, Michigan. As such, she develops progressive children’s programs, offers a variety of adult tournaments, and oversees all aspects of court maintenance and care. When she is not on the court, she’s walking the golf course and working on her short game.
In addition to her diverse life adventures, Germic has more than 10 years of experience as an elementary school teacher. She earned a master’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from Bank Street College of Education (N.Y.), and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Albion College (Albion, Mich.).
