BILLINGS, Mont.
– The Montana State University Billings men's golf team reloads their roster with six signees. Following a successful season highlighted by both a team and an individual title, the 'Jackets head into the 2025-26 season with a fresh set of talent. Drawn across various parts of Montana and beyond, this signee class brings a mix of high school standouts and seasoned junior college players.
Cameron Hackmann from Laurel High School,
Payton Black from Rio Rancho High School,
Aubrey Kelley from Park High School,
Mark Pramounmat from Indiana University High School,
Bowdie Fox from Iowa Western Community College, and
Ryder Conner from Chandler-Gilbert Community College make up the 2025 recruiting class, rounding out the Yellowjackets' lineup heading into the 2025-26 season.
"This class of six is another huge class for us," said head coach
Adam Buie. "Almost the whole team for this coming year was a part of last year's class or this year's class as we continue to rebuild after losing seven seniors in May of 2024. We accomplished everything I wanted to with that class. We brought in very talented freshmen and a pair of JUCO transfers that come to us from solid programs. Also, all six of these young Men have over 3.0 GPAs and should do well in the classroom as well. I set out to make our team much more competitive this year and we will now have 11 very capable players. I expect qualifying to be super intense. This will make for great preparation for our tournaments this Fall. We hope to play better in the Mike Grob Cup matches off the start and then go to a new course in Sheridan for the SD Mines event which we won last year. This year the tournament has been moved to the Powder Horn and the field is much improved, so we will have to be ready right away."

HACKMANN ON CHOOSING MSUB: "I chose MSUB to improve my golf game as best as much as possible while trying to help build a winning culture. I want to make myself better as well as my teammates better around me. It's a great college close to home while getting the best of both worlds, golf and academics."
BUI ON HACKMANN: "Cameron is a local prospect with a great track record of junior golf in Montana. He is a first cousin to recent graduate Paul O'Neil and was a no brainer for us to add to our team. Cameron has a very high ceiling and talent level. When he is on, he is one of the best players in Montana. The Laurel program is the strongest in Class A with multiple state titles on the men's and women's side, so we are happy to add another piece from them. He has won the individual class A title once while his team at Laurel won the state title an incredible three times in addition to being a former champion at the Montana State Junior championship multiple times as well. I watched Cameron shoot a final round 69 at the Montana State Amateur in 2022 at Riverside CC in Bozeman. He had just finished his freshman year of high school. At that moment I knew he was a special talent."
Payton Black

BLACK ON CHOOSING MSUB: "I chose MSUB because of the school! I liked the student to faculty ratio and know that I'll be able to get a good degree with quality education. I loved Coach Buie and his mentality when it came to golf, and I loved the idea of competing in the GNAC as a Yellowjacket. I'm grateful for opportunity to not only further my education but also further my aspirations as an athlete at MSUB."
BUIE ON BLACK: "Payton is an exciting prospect for the team. He has come on strong in his senior year in New Mexico and won the Class 5A state individual title. In addition to being an All-State player multiple times, he picked up a nice win at the Notah Begay Regional Boys Championship Club shooting 72-71. This Summer he has played a few tournaments and qualifiers and held his own against good competition including current DI and DII players. Payton played high school golf for his dad who runs a strong program which has produced several college players before him. Payton has the right pedigree and discipline that serve him well for the college game. He is also a great student with over a 4.0 GPA in high school. "

He then spent time in Florida for high school and was playing in year-round tournaments, including picking up a junior win there as well. He realized how much he missed home and Montana and wanted to come back to school here. Aubrey finished in the top five at the Montana State Junior last week and brings a good resume to the team. Aubrey has some nice wins on his resume and lots of tournament rounds under par. He has the talent to contend for immediate playing time."

One of the biggest factors in my decision was the golf team, knowing that there were other Thai players on the team gave me confidence that I would be joining a supportive and welcoming group. Having teammates from my home country made it easier to adjust to a new environment, both on and off the course. Them being on the team reassured me that I would have people around who understood my culture and could help me transition smoothly into college life. Another reason I chose MSUB was the calm and focused environment in Billings, Montana. I wanted a place where I could concentrate on improving my golf skills while also excelling academically. Academically, MSUB's business program also aligned perfectly with my goal of majoring in marketing. I wanted to attend a university that would help me build a strong foundation for my future career while allowing me to pursue my passion for golf."
BUIE ON PRAMOUNMAT: "Mark is a continuation of our Thai pipeline that we have going. He also comes to us with a good resume of junior golf, competing in big regional and national events in Thailand. Mark is a soft-spoken young man with a big game. He has qualified for the Optimist International Tournament twice and finished in the top ten at the 2024 Under Armour World Championship in Orlando. He has had multiple top five finishes this Summer on the GPS tour in Thailand with six par or better rounds already. Mark is friends with a couple of our players and has been following our program for a while. With help from his Thai teammates, he will be able to transition to the US game and college classes well. Mark is playing good golf and has a ton of potential."

BUIE ON FOX: "Bowdie is a great addition to our team. Bowdie spent time in Montana a few years back volunteering to help those in need after the flood and liked his time here. He comes to us from an Iowa Western program that is highly ranked. Iowa Western is a solid program, and he was able to play in good tournaments. He is the ultimate team player and brings a 4.0 GPA with him from the last two years. The Men's team was so young this year, we actively sought experienced transfers in the process. Not only does he add experience but will help balance out our classes with mostly underclassmen on the team. Bowdie lowered his scoring average over two shots per round from his freshman year to his sophomore year and his growth can continue at MSUB. He can be a leader from day one for us."

Ryder wanted to continue playing in Montana to complete his college career and we were a good fit for him. He has already had good showings at the Montana State match play and the Montana State Amateur last week in Missoula. Ryder generates a lot of clubhead speed and has a lot of power in his swing. He has shown the ability to go low with a 66 in a college event his first year. He competed for a nationally ranked team at Chandler-Gilbert, so he will not shy away from any competition.
