DICKINSON, N.D. – The Montana State University Billings track and field program finished with a number of top finishes and quality marks at the Blue Hawk Games this weekend, hosted by Dickinson State University.
The Yellowjacket's finishes in the meet were highlighted by
Cecily Eagleton, who finished with a first-place mark in the 3000m Steeplechase. Eagleton's time of 12:09.81 was first place by seven seconds at the meet, and was the sixth fastest mark in MSUB history. Behind here, two other Yellowjacket women had second place finishes.
Mya Richardson finished second in the 400m, running a 1:01.19 and closing in on breaking her PR. Richardson also had a quality mark in the 200m, finishing fourth with a time of 26.13. Meanwhile,
Hannah Cooper had two excellent finishes at the meet, finishing second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m (5' 3"), and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.07m (39' 7.25").
Further going down the list of finishers on the MSUB women's team,
Brynn Jolma achieved a PR in the weight throw, finishing in fourth with a throw of 46.80m (153'6"). Finishing one spot behind her was
Grace Jones, with a mark of 46.80m (152' 0").
Mattea McColly also achieved a PR with her performance in the discus, throwing a best of 37.43m (122' 10") to finish fifth place in Dickinson. On the track,
Katelyn Hamill ran PRs of 12.77 in the 100m, and 26.50 in the 200m, finishing eighth in both races.
Madeline Severson ran a 2:26.44 in the 800m to finish sixth, while
Annelise Sexson finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.50. Meanwhile,
Carey Berendsen finished third in the 5000m with a time of 20:05.54, and followed that up with a fifth-place performance in the 1500m, running a time of 5:07.65.
On the men's side, a number of athletes finished in podium positions, grabbing second and third place spots in the meet.
Andrew Rush improved his PR in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:11.06, finishing second in the race while adding a sixth-place finish in the 5000m with a time of 16:20.91.
Benji Carlson finished with his highest finish to date in the 110m hurdles, running a 16.17 to finish second, while fellow freshman
Bryce Dunham finished second in the javelin with a throw of 45.07m (147' 10"). He was closely followed in the event by
Cole Bentley, who finished third with a throw of 40.11m (131' 7"), while
Favor Okere also finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.80m (5' 10.75").
Behind them, the Yellowjacket men had a number of other quality marks. Jaycee Herbert ran a PR in the 100m with a time of 10.69, while
Mason Dezember had a PR of his own in the 200m, running a time of 22.03. The two were also members of the two relay teams for MSUB, joining
Dawson Sweat and Ben Ralston for a 42.27 mark in the 4x100 to finish third, and
Ryan Fenley and
Kaleb Scott to finish second in the 4x400 with a time of 3:31.49. Scott also had a great finish in the 400m, finishing sixth with a time of 51.73. Fenley was the top MSUB finisher in the ling jump, finishing eighth with a mark of 6.33m (20' 9.25"). In the throwing events,
Cort Sandefur finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 40.03m (131' 4"), and
Isaac Perkins had the team's top finish in the hammer throw, finishing fifth with a mark of 48.28m (158' 5").
THE BUZZ: Eagleton and Rush were selected as the Intermountain Health Athletes of the Meet.
