TURLOCK, Cali. - Highlighting the Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket men's golf team at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, Liam O'Halloran led the way for the 'Jackets with a T-26^th place individual finish including a sub-70 career low in the second round.
 
After an uncharacteristic 70^th place finish in the Yellowjackets previous tournament, senior Liam O'Halloran got back on track with a T-26^th place overall finish by averaging even par at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational. O'Halloran shot a career best (69) on the second round of the tournament which helped propel him to a total net score of 218 (76-69-73) which was just two strokes shy of a top-20 finish.
 
The California schools played well at home, making up seven of the top-10 teams placements at Turlock Country Club. The Yellowjackets on the other hand competed well amongst their GNAC competitors, placing second amongst the four competing in Turlock, CA. The 'Jackets bested Saint Martin's by 15 strokes and tied Western Washington with an overall T-10^th place finish among the 15 teams competing, and a team three-round score of 879 (291-292-296).
 
Close behind O'Halloran was nobody else but Lucas Howell who led the Yellowjackets with 13 total birdies. Howell ended just two strokes behind MSUB's clubhouse leader and finished the tournament in T-32^nd place among the 92 golfers, and a total gross score of 220 (70-77-73).
 
Following Howell was Kevin Kolb, in his 2024 spring season debut the senior posted 11 birdies across the three rounds and an eagle on the final day of competition. Kolb entered the clubhouse with a T-46^th place finish and had a three-round total of 223 (73-76-74).
 
In T-58^th place was senior Paul O'Neil who finished with a total gross score of 226 (72-78-76), and just two strokes behind him in T-62^nd place was Carson Garner who finished with a three-round score of 228 (79-70-79). Competing as an individual and rounding it out for the Yellowjackets was Brady Cady. In his spring debut, Cady shot a total of 242 (82-81-79) and placed T-86^th overall.
 
THE BUZZ: Liam O'Halloran was named Intermountain Health Player of the Tournament after posting a tournament gross score of 218 (76-69-73) and leading the 'Jackets with a T-26^th place overall finish.
 
UP NEXT: The Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket men's golf team heads to Goodyear, AZ at the Golf Club of Estrella for the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout. The tournament is hosted by Colorado School of Mines and is set to start on Friday, March 5^th.
