BILLINGS, Mont.- The Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket volleyball team (7-16, 0-13 GNAC) faltered 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-20) to the University of Alaska Anchorage (13-10, 7-6 GNAC) in Anchorage, AK last night.
The Seawolves put on a show on their home court while earning their third straight victory, posting some of the best stats they've shown all season. Anchorage ended the three-set match with a team hitting percentage of .316 with 40 total kills and nine service aces. The Seawolves got out to a hot start claiming the first two sets handily, but the third set is where the 'Jackets started to show some life.
After going down 3-1 early, the Yellowjackets tied it back up at four behind back-to-back kills from
Jordin Taulua. From there it was a back-and-forth battle with both squads knotting up at six, seven, eight, and 11 points but MSUB was unable to take the advantage. The Seawolves started to pull away, taking a 16-12 lead but
Julia Gordon and
Jahsita Fa'ali'i brought the 'Jackets back within one with a service ace apiece. Anchorage then went on a 7-3 run to cap of the third set and taking the match in three sets.
Taulua ended the night as the leading scorer for the Yellowjackets, posting nine kills with two digs followed by Fa'ali'i with six kills, five digs, and one service ace. Setting for the pins was
Emma Fa'alogo who led the team with 12 assists and four digs, followed by
Addie Allen with six assists and two digs.
Christine Funk led the back row, averaging five digs per set with a total of 15 digs, two service aces, and one assist.

THE BUZZ: Christine Funk was named Intermountain Health Player of the Game after posting 15 digs which is good for five digs per set with two service aces and one assist.
UP NEXT: The Montana State University Billings volleyball team returns home for their final two home matches of the season. The Yellowjackets will take on Western Washington on November 7
th at 7 PM, followed by Simon Fraser on November 9
th at noon where they will honor their seniors before first serve.
